Practicing Law Since 1993
The Only Attorney in This Area Specializing Exclusively in Student Loan Debt.
Practicing Law Since 1993 -Â Student Loan Specialist
We have been practicing law since 1993 and chose to focus on an area that few others are willing to address-student loan debt. From the beginning, our goal has been to help people navigate a system that is often confusing, frustrating, and misunderstood.
Student loan management and planning is not one practice area among many for us. It is our sole focus. We are the only law practice in this region dedicated exclusively to this specific niche, allowing us to provide depth of knowledge and strategic insight that general practitioners do not offer.
Why We Do This Work
Many of our clients come to us after years of struggling with student loan debt and being told there are no real options. A significant number are older individuals who never expected student loans to follow them this far into life.
We do this work because people deserve informed guidance and realistic solutions. We provide multiple strategic approaches to addressing student loan problems—options that most attorneys do not understand or offer. Helping clients regain clarity and control over their student loan debt is at the core of what we do.
Our Expertise
Our practice is built on decades of legal experience and a singular focus on student loan law. We take a comprehensive approach that may include:
- Student loan discharge options
- Income-driven repayment planning
- Payment repair and long-term debt management planning
What Clients Value Most
Clients consistently tell us they value working with a lawyer who truly specializes in student loan debt. They appreciate our understanding of the full range of available strategies-from discharge options to repayment planning to comprehensive debt management-and our ability to explain those options clearly and honestly.
For many, it is the first time they feel their student loan situation has been fully understood.
Meet Our Attorney
Thank you for visiting my website. Since you're here, I will assume that either you or someone close to you is struggling with student loans in one way or another. You have come to the right place. I have been practicing law in Memphis since 1993, mostly in the areas of consumer bankruptcy and consumer protection. Along the way I have met hundreds of people with student loan problems. Sadly, for the first 20 or so years of my career, there wasn't much that you could do about student loans. You either paid them off or lived with them for the rest of your life. The Dept of Education would sometimes let people set up reasonable repayment plans, and in extreme cases they would actually agree to discharge all or part of someone's debt, but those cases were few and far between, and the end result was so uncertain that I couldn't in good conscience take someone's money without being reasonably certain about the end result. But over the past several years all that has changed. The Dept of Education and their servicing agencies started actively working with student loan debtors, and now it's safe to say that there are good solutions for most (but definitely not all) federal student loan problems. (Private loans and state loans are separate issues. There sometimes ways to deal with them, both in and out of bankruptcy, but they can be very difficult to deal with). Then in 2022 they suddenly opened the door to discharging student loans in bankruptcy. It doesn't work for everyone, and it's still not cheap, but if you can show a genuine hardship, then there is a good chance that your student loan debts can be discharged. Of course, this could all change again at any time, so don't delay. Call me now to schedule a virtual appointment. For the time being the initial evaluation is free, so there's no reason not to give it a shot.
